There are thousands of such events held each week in over 40 countries around the world.

The events vary in length from an evening talk to a few days, but whatever their duration they all offer a meaningful difference – a chance to break free from the hectic routines of daily life and focus on the things that really matter. You will come away not only refreshed and relaxed but also spiritually re-energised.

We invite you to look around, discover and if you can’t find what you are looking for please inquire through one of our centres.

The events are based on the teachings given in the book Modern Buddhism by renowned author and meditation master, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. Modern Buddhism is a special presentation of Buddha’s teachings on compassion and wisdom that communicates their essence in a way that is easy to understand and put into practice. This book is available as a FREE ebook download from emodernbuddhism.com.

These meditation retreats are suitable for beginners and those with more experience and are a great way to learn new things or deepen your present spiritual understanding and experience. Everybody is welcome.

Meditation Classes

Meditation is an ancient art which is being increasingly practised in these modern times. More and more people are turning to meditation to increase their inner peace, good health and wellbeing.

The purpose of meditation is to make our mind calm and peaceful. Since inner peace is the source of all happiness, we can see how important meditation is.

If our mind is peaceful, we will be free from worries and mental discomfort, and so we will experience true happiness; but if our mind is not peaceful, we will find it very difficult to be happy, even if we are living in the very best conditions.

If we train in meditation, our mind will gradually become more and more peaceful, and we will experience a purer and purer form of happiness. Eventually, we will be able to stay happy all the time, even in the most difficult circumstances.

After leaving Tibet in 1959, he spent the next eighteen years in meditation retreats in the Himalayan region and northern India…

Our Tradition

Drawing on the profound lineage of ancient wisdom that he holds, Geshe Kelsang presents the teachings of Buddha in a way that everyone can easily apply them to their daily lives.
